Imaginary Beasts is proud to be a non-profit, non-equity theatre group serving the greater Boston area and the entire North Shore community. We are committed to bringing innovative yet accessible theatrical performances to the general public and to reaching diverse communities through the projects we develop. At heart we are an artist-based theatre company and it remains central to our mission to offer our company members - both traditional and non-traditional performance artists - a unique chance to explore and develop exciting theatre in an ongoing studio environment.
Taking up residency in the Lynn Arts building at 25 Exchange Street in Lynn, MA, directly across from the commuter rail station, Imaginary Beasts is proud to be a part of the city of Lynn's ongoing development of a central art's district in the downtown area. In addition we are pleased to be able to bring our unique performances to Boston and areas throughout the North Shore, including Cambridge, Essex, Lawrence, Topsfield, and Gloucester, MA.
Imaginary Beasts' core company members come from a variety of backgrounds, many are professionally trained artists who seek to make a living at their craft while remaining in the area, and all have a serious commitment to keeping the theatre arts a vital part of our communities.
Matthew Woods, a graduate of Hamilton College, Clinton, New York, and of the A.R.T. Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University serves as Artistic Director.
